Our first Ladies 6-a-side festival a great success

It was touch a go for all of Sunday morning, but the weather was kind to us and the showers stopped just in time for the start of our first Ladies six-a-side softball cricket festival on 16th June.

Two teams from Mitcham were delighted to be joined by teams from Walton on Thames CC and Sutton CC. Groundsman Andy had kindly cut and marked pitches in the outfield for us to use, so we were able to run two games simultaneously.

There was plenty of great cricket on show. Ragini, Julia and Vasi all took wickets and scored runs in several games. Leah bowled one of the few maiden overs of the afternoon. New player Noor proved to be an economical bowler, took wickets and was handy with the bat. Other new discoveries Bincy and Josheka, proved prolific run scorers in several games. Zara also took a wicket. Everyone had a great time!

The players were grateful to Adrian and Kumar who kindly umpired. Shellina and Nora ensured that Mitcham CC maintained its reputation for good hospitality, running the BBQ and bar. The event would not have been possible without the sponsorship of Club Vice President Joyce Bellamy. Big thanks to all of them!

The Mitcham team will be training hard for a number of other festivals over this summer and always welcome new members. We hope that the Mitcham Festival will become a regular fixture in the Club's calendar.
