The world of cricket has been supporting our campaign over the future of the pavilion. Since we tweeted about the public consultation over the landlord's plans to develop the Burn Bullock and the pavilion (25 June) we've been inundated with messages of support.

Former England captains Alec Stewart and Michael Vaughan urged their followers to support Mitcham. Broadcasters David Lloyd and Mark Pougatch also tweeted their support. The news that the future of the pavilion is not secure has reached a number of media outlets and you can expect further stories in the coming days.

Most heartwarming are the messages of support from other cricket clubs. Truly the cricket family comes together to support one of its number in trouble. Thank you, one and all.

We have launched a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to raise the funds to support our campaign to secure the pavilion for year-round community use. Now as part of our fundraising campaign, we can reveal that Mitcham CC is to play host to the world famous Lashings World XI. The match will form part of Lashings Weekend at Mitcham on September 7-9, 2018. (more info to follow)

Lashings has a squad of ex-Test stars which include Monty Panesar, Tino Best, Devon Malcolm, Graham Onions and Jason Gillespie. We look forward to watching them negotiate the A239 on the way to the crease!
