Sunday 30th April sees the return of outdoor training for Mitcham CC juniors. New members are always welcome.

The 2017 cricket season starts this Sunday 30th April on the historic Mitcham Cricket Green

Mitcham Cricket Club’s junior section (the Colts) returns for the 2017 season on Sunday 30th April at 10am and will continue every Sunday until September.

The Mitcham Colts membership is open to boys and girls of all abilities. Our aim is to provide a safe, fun and encouraging environment for the children to learn about cricket, develop their skills, make new friends and keep fit.

On the first Sunday, we will have a short training session followed by a Meet the Coaches session starting around 11am. We would ask all parents to come along to meet the coaches and hear about this year’s plans.

All Stars Cricket
This year we are piloting All Stars Cricket, the new ECB initiative for 5 to 8 year olds. All Stars Cricket provides 8 one-hour sessions for budding cricketers. At Mitcham, the sessions start on 21st May (at 10am). To sign up go to https://www.ecb.co.uk/play/all-stars.

Membership
The Colts membership subscription has been held at just £40 for the season. Membership forms for the new season are attached.

Website and social media
Mitcham CC’s new website is up and running. Payment of subs can be made through the website. And please do follow us on twitter @mitchamcc to stay up to date with news from the club. If any sessions are postponed due to bad weather you can stay informed via twitter.

Representative teams
This year we will again enter three teams in the Surrey (North East & Central) Colts League:
- Under-12s (for players in school years 6 and 7),
- Under-14s (for players in school years 8 and 9), and
- Under-16s (for players in school years 10 and 11).
To be able to run these teams we always need lots of support from parents. Any help you can give to manage the team, organise the ground for home matches and especially to provide transport for away games would be gratefully received.

Mitcham CC is happy to support parents or older colts interested in umpiring or scoring, or who wish to join our band of coaches or who just want to help out on a Sunday morning. If you’re interested in becoming a Coach Support Worker or just wish to help out from time to time let me know. Any help to provide catering for matches is always welcome too.

If you or your employer would be interested in sponsoring a team please let us know. We have opportunities for shirt sponsorship, pavilion advertising and headline sponsorship for the colts section.

Our 2017 Colts Festival will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 29th May. Mixed age 6-a-side teams will battle it out for the trophy. The event always has a great atmosphere. Spectators are very welcome, so please bring the whole family and spend the day with us. Helpers, donations of food and sponsors are always needed to support this special day.
