Under14s crash out of the cup at Sutton

Missing a few regulars Mitcham took 8 wickets and batted their 20 overs but beaten by a strong Sutton side.

Sutton u14 - 134-8 (20 overs)
Mitcham u14 - 74-9 (20 overs)

Sutton punished a few wayward overs from the MCC under 14s to knock the browncaps out of the 2017 league cup at a sunny Holmwood Close.

Having won the toss the home side were briefly in trouble when they lost their openers in the first 5 overs. But great batting from Inamullah, Sam and Jay saw Sutton score 134-8 in their 20 overs. The pick of the Mitcham bowlers was Azeem with 3 for 21 including 2 in 2 balls at the start of the 17th over.

In reply the inexperienced Mitcham side were always behind the run rate with only Azeem, Maywon and Zubair making double figures. Once the middle order batsman fell trying to force the pace, the game was up. The 60 run margin reflected Sutton's superiority and we wish them well in the next round.

Mitcham boys know they need to tighten up their bowling against the top sides if we are going to progress in the league. Opportunity to fix it was lost the next day (June 2nd) when the u14s and u12s games were lost to the weather.
