Mitcham Cricket Club has a thriving and welcoming junior section, with training sessions held every Sunday morning on the historic Mitcham Cricket Green. For the 2026 season, junior cricket runs from Sunday 26 April through to early September, with sessions taking place from 10:45am to 12:15pm.

The Mitcham Cricket Green is located directly opposite our pavilion at 4 Cricket Green, Mitcham, Surrey CR4 4LA, providing a safe, accessible, and inspiring environment for young cricketers to learn and develop their skills.

A Club for Everyone

We are a friendly, inclusive club and welcome boys and girls from around the age of 7, regardless of experience or ability. Whether a child is completely new to cricket or already playing competitively, Mitcham Cricket Club offers a supportive setting where everyone can enjoy the game and progress at their own pace.

Our junior teams regularly compete against other clubs, and in 2025 we fielded seven teams in the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship, including our first ever girls’ team.

The club is closely linked with the Surrey Cricket Development Programme and is able to nominate talented players for District and County trials. We are proud of our strong tradition of junior players progressing into our senior teams.

Achievements & Recognition

Our junior section has enjoyed notable success in recent seasons, including:

Surrey Junior Cricket Championship 2025 – Under 14 Tier 3 East Champions
Surrey Junior Cricket Championship 2025 – Under 12 Tier 2 East Central - Runners-Up

In addition, several players have been selected for Surrey Girls teams and MCC Foundation Hubs, highlighting the quality of coaching and development available at the club.

Experienced & Qualified Coaching

All junior coaching is delivered by experienced ECB-qualified coaches, supported by a team of dedicated volunteers. Every official involved with the junior section is DBS checked, and the club operates to the highest standards of safety and care.

Our Safeguarding Officer, Ken Jones, works closely with the coaching team to promote the welfare of all children and ensure that safeguarding practices fully meet ECB standards and legal requirements. Ken can be contacted via email for any safeguarding-related queries.

Junior membership at Mitcham Cricket Club offers excellent value. Fees are currently £80 per year for the first child and £50 per year for siblings, with no additional cost for Sunday training sessions throughout the season.
