President David M Smith congratulates winners

At our AGM we made a number of awards to recognise those members who have made an outstanding contribution to the life and running of our Club in 2018.

Here you can see Den Seymour receiving the Fred Cole Cup which recognised him as the Club member who most typified Club and Team spirit in 2018. This Cup is awarded annually in memory of Club stalwart Fred Cole who held most Club offices including serving as our President for several decades from the early sixties.

This year's recipient of the Burn Bullock Tankard is Alan Hutchings who has organised a number of Fundraising events including the Annual Golf Day and has lead the recovery work on the pavilion following a major pre-season flood caused by "the Beast from the East". Alan's contribution was also recognised earlier in the year through an Outstanding Contribution award at the Merton Volunteer Awards.

We also recognised two promising young players with our annual Memorial Award - Dhruv Rupal and Azizullah Andar are the lucky recipients for 2018 and their names have been added to the Awards Board in the pavilion. They both receive two year's free membership.

The membership at the AGM agreed an amendment to the Club Constitution to add a new award from 2019. The new Pat Batty award will be given each year to the senior player of the year as selected by the players. This award is named for our former President who stepped down in 2017 after 67 active years of service to the Club as player, captain and in various offices.

A great way to end what has been a very difficult season for the Club.
