"Heartbeat of the Club" Julia Gault receives a CBE

Mitcham CC is proud to announce that our club secretary Julia Gault has received a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Julia received the recognition for her work as Head of Family, Poverty and In Work Progression Policy at the Department for Work and Pensions. The citation also recognizes her public service and "services to the community in Mitcham".

Julia is Mitcham CC's Club Secretary and leads the work on the club's long term strategy and our club policies, as well as managing the club's AGM and management committee, publishing the yearbook and annual report, and leading fundraising efforts. Julia founded the Mitcham Sapphires in 2018, our first ever ladies XI, and is currently team captain.

In 2019 she was recognized at the Oval for her work at the club, when she was presented with the Heartbeat of the Club award at he annual OSCAs - the Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards. The honour caps a great month for Julia, who successfully passed her L2 coaching course in September.

Club Chairman, Peter White-Young said "This is marvellous and thoroughly deserved. She has done so much to help keep the club going, large amounts of which go completely unnoticed. I know her as a caring scorer, coach, player, captain, cleaner, organiser, parent, driver to games and passionate supporter of our historic club particularly in its fight for the future of the game on the green. Julia is always setting the highest standards in her approach to everything that she does for the club and our local community. With Julia we do not do second best. I am proud to be associated with Julia and all that she does to keep us going. This award is thoroughly deserved."
