Club Secretary Julia Gault wins Heartbeat of the Club award

Mitcham CC had one of its own honoured at the annual OSCA awards.

The Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards are the annual recognition for cricket volunteers. Julia Gault who is Mitcham's Club Secretary - and so much more! - has today won in the category "Heartbeat of the Club". As well as being Club Secretary, Julia also runs and captains the Mitcham Sapphires, our new women's team. The member's database, working with sponsors, fundraising and running events are just a few of the tasks that Julia also takes on.

In the ceremony at the Oval, Julia received her award from Surrey CCC players Stuart Meaker and Gus Atkinson.

Mitcham CC Club Chairman Peter White-Young and Welfare Officer Ken Jones are previous OSCA nominees. Julia's award makes a hat-trick of wins for Mitcham. Earlier this year Julia's husband Adrian and Junior Cricket Manager David Bell were recognized by Merton Council for their volunteering.

And if you want to join the winning team, there are always volunteering opportunities at Mitcham CC. From helping with the administration, organizing events and providing cricket teas, we are always looking for extra pairs of hands. Volunteering is a great way to give something back and to keep cricket alive on the world's oldest cricket green. No experience is needed and if you want to volunteer regularly or occasionally email us.
