About the team

We have an active junior section which meets on the Mitcham Cricket Green for practice every Sunday from the end of April until early September from 10.45am to 12.15pm. The Mitcham Cricket Green is opposite our pavilion which is at 4 Cricket Green, Mitcham, Surrey CR4 4LA.
We are a friendly club and are open to boys and girls from around 7 years of age. All abilities are welcome. Our Junior Cricket Manager is David Bell who is also one of our coaches. Our officials are appropriately DBS checked. We have a number of qualified coaches who work with the juniors. All the coaches and officers of the Club are volunteers – we have no paid staff. Our experienced Safeguarding Officer Ken Jones helps the coaching team to promote the welfare of children and ensure our safeguarding practice meets legal requirements and ECB standards. Ken can be contacted via email.

Juniors benefit from reduced club membership fees and these are currently at the very competitive rate of £60 a year for the first child in the family and £40 for any siblings - there is no additional cost for the Sunday training sessions for the whole season.

Our juniors participate in matches against other clubs – we have four teams playing in the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship in 2022. This includes a new Under 10 team for the first time. League matches normally take place on Thursday and Friday evenings. The club is linked to the Surrey Development programme and is able to nominate promising players for trials for the District and County teams. We also have a strong record of our juniors going on to represent the club in our senior sides.

Please note that:
- Membership of the Club does not guarantee selection to play for Mitcham CC in matches.
- Players who have played league matches for Mitcham CC are not eligible to play league cricket for other Clubs in the same season.
- Parents are responsible for transporting their children to away matches.
- Parents are responsible for their children outside advertised training times.

If you would like more information about junior cricket at Mitcham CC, you can contact David on 07765 221650.

We encourage at least one adult from each junior member’s family taking out honorary (non-playing) membership of the Club (at the bargain price of £10 a year) – this gives you rights to be involved in decision making at the Club including voting at our AGM and standing for election as a Club officer. You can apply for honorary membership via the payment section of our website.
